ASB Partners is a long-biased hedge fund that focuses on value-oriented investments in public companies with these characteristics:
- High, sustainable free cash flow
- Earnings growth
- Durable business models
- Reasonable valuations
ASB’s investment philosophy targets long-term buy-and-hold positions, which are good for tax efficiency. Buckstein, the firm’s founder, is the second-largest investor in the fund, so he’s got plenty of skin in the game alongside his investors. ASB also seeks risk-averse investments that start with downside protection, as is evident in Buckstein’s two stock picks.
