Puerto Rico Debt Compromise Likely, "Bi-partisan Model"

As legislation to provide Puerto Rico debt relief hits a snag in Congress, a Height Geopolitical Risk commentary is relatively optimistic as their “base case includes passage of a PR bill in Congress.” The bill, categorized as a “bailout” by the opposition, involves no government funding. The issue is how political leaders move beyond what currently appears like a minefield where disagreement might mean missing an important default deadline. Sources close to the negotiation, however, predict a solution will be reached, but timetables at this point remain unclear, with some analysis pointing to early Summer when the Senate will finally wrap up the issue.
