Knowing when to sell a stock is equally important as knowing when to buy it. Timing of buying and selling securities is an art that sets apart a successful investor from those with less experience, knowledge, or feeling.

Selling stocks should be carefully timed both when you are thinking about cutting losses, or when you are aiming for the highest returns. Sometimes when you see a stock gaining value day by day you are tempted to wait it out until it maximizes its value. The issue is similar when pondering when to cut losses.
