WebMD is reportedly in talks with Walgreens and UnitedHealth for a possible sale of all or part of its business, according to the Financial Times, which cites people close to the company. Reacting favorably to the news, WebMD’s shares jumped by over 5% to $56.13 in the early morning trading today.

WebMD, an online provider of healthcare-related information and advice, is said to be in discussions with a number of other potential buyers as well. However, the report indicated that WebMD could decide not to do anything after reviewing its options. Interestingly, both Walgreens and WebMD already work together on various initiatives, including a virtual wellness-coaching app that can be downloaded on smartphones.
