Visium Asset Management LP, the $8 billion New York-based healthcare hedge fund spin-off from Balyasny Asset Management operated by Dr. Jacob Gottlieb, is being investigated, according to a letter to investors obtained by ValueWalk.

In an note sent to investors this morning and first reported by Gregory Zuckerman in The Wall Street Journal, Visium said the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are reviewing trading and valuation issues.
