Will UK Property Investment Fund Freeze Become a Self-Fulling Prophecy?

A contagion in the UK real estate investment market appears underway as the sixth investment fund, $286 million Canada Life, said it is suspending withdrawals in the fund to “protect the interests of all investors in property funds.” The company is the latest in a string of firms to prevent investors from withdrawing funds, following Columbia Threadneedle and Henderson Global Investors earlier today closing up withdrawals. The number of UK real estate investment fund gates being activated now totals six major firms. But is the apparent selling warranted, or is perception of panic leading to actual panic?

Concerns in the UK real estate market have not yet transferred to stocks. The FTSE 250 is off just -0.41% at mid-day in New York...
