It was a cold call to Warren Buffett that led to Harvard Business School grad Tracy Britt Cool being named CEO of Pampered Chef, a Buffett holding, on Monday.

Cool will replace Pampered Chef founder Doris Christopher, a home economics teacher who started the company selling kitchen utensils from her basement in 1980.
