It’s been awhile since a Bitcoin was worth more than a grand, and the crypto-currency has been moving sideways for most of the year, but for those who still want to speculate the New York Stock Exchange is launching the NYSE Bitcoin Index (NYXBT) today. The value of the exchange will be calculated daily to represent the dollar value of one Bitcoin based on data from the Coinbase Exchange, in which NYSE has a minority stake. Bitcoins currently go for $233 on Coinbase.
“Bitcoin values are quickly becoming a data point that our customers want to follow as they consider transacting, trading or investing with this emerging asset class,” said NYSE Group President Thomas Farley.
