Pseudo-scientific studies being promulgated as fact by the mainstream media, particularly in popular morning news programs, are making claims so absurd their only point is to make news, points out a recent episode of John Oliver on HBO’s hit show “Last Week Tonight.” It is the studies that make news that get funded, which creates a vicious cycle of dubious studies with jaw-dropping headlines consistently receiving funding.
