Last year, for the first time in 10 years, both hedge fund performance and flows were negative according to Barclays's 2019 Global Hedge Fund Industry Outlook.

The annual study, which is based on interviews conducted with 300 investors managing $900 billion of hedge fund assets under management, declares last year cumulative hedge fund outflows amounted to $35 billion as the HFRI Fund Weighted Index fell 4.5%.
