Hedge Fund Inflows Surge As Sector Achieves Best H1 Performance Since 2009

Hedge funds recorded one of their best years of performances in recent history last year.

Q2 2021 hedge fund letters, conferences and more

The strong run of performance has continued in 2021, with hedge funds reporting their best first half since 2009.

According to hedge fund data provider eVestment, the global hedge fund industry returned 0.18% in June, bringing its year-to-date return to 9.22%. The sector returned 11.04% overall in 2020, according to eVestment data.

Data from HFM shows a similar trend. The financial services analytics group's HFM Global Composite Index gained 3.7% in Q2 2021, taking the top-level year-to-date return to 8.8%.
