George Soros is a rare hedge fund manager credited with “breaking” a major central bank. Successfully “fighting the Fed” has rarely, if ever, succeeded in a developed nation, giving Soros a world-beater status of sorts. That was 1992 when Soros, then a spry 62-year old, recognized a flaw in economic calculations and proceeded to crush the Bank of England and its currency. Now the legendary prize fighter, 85, who previously appeared un-eager to engage in another major battle, toughened his rhetoric with China this week.
