Its official, says the International Monetary Fund. The Chinese economy is now larger than the U.S. for the first time, according to a Financial Times report.

According to a recent IMF study, China’s economy was $17.6 trillion in size, compared to the $17.4 trillion U.S. economy.  But those numbers are based on new exchange rates that make an odd assumption that money went further in China than previously thought and this equates to larger economic output.
