Carl Icahn made his new 8.18% activist stake in Cheniere Energy public on Thursday, and noted plans to seek talks with the natural gas exporter’s management and perhaps board seats “if appropriate”.
Reacting to the announcement, the gas exporter’s shares rose as much as 6.5% to $69 in after-market trading, after closing at $64.81.

According to a 13D regulatory filing Thursday, billionaire investor Carl Icahn said shares of Cheniere Energy are undervalued and he will seek discussions on “operations, capital expenditures, financings and executive compensation”.
