BREXIT A Concern For Investors?

The largest uncertainty for domestic and foreign investors in UK equities is probably the impending referendum on UK membership of the EU; that’s according to Barclays’ UK Equity Strategy research team.

The British government has promised that an “in” / “out” referendum on the country’s membership of the European Union will be held before the end of 2017. Initial indications suggest that the vote will take place during September of this year although the final date of the poll will likely depend upon progress or otherwise in ongoing negotiations between the UK and other EU countries regarding the UK’s relationship with the EU.

An extended delay will affect investment decisions, which will ultimately impact hiring, spending and economic growth.
