Risk Appetite Remains Weak Among Investors Amid Brexit, China Fears

With the UK set to vote on its future in the EU in a week’s time, risks from China growing and confidence in the Federal Reserve falling, investors are currently facing some of the most volatile and uncertain times since the financial crisis.

Investor positioning reflects the environment. According to UBS’s June 15 Global Positioning Summary, risk appetite remains weak among investors, particularly in Europe. Assets across the board have seen outflows this month with equity flows showing that the US, Japan and UK were the only developed market regions with small inflows for the month, while Europe and emerging markets had large outflows.
