Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL iTunes users are getting upset at a free gift, or are they really mad at the development of a new marketing platform?

Apple's announcement of free U2 album met with negative comments

When Tim Cook and the once alternative rock band U2 announced that the band’s new album, "Songs of Innocence," would be available for free, who could have considered this would generate negative comments? After all, U2 is among the most popular bands in the world. For a popular band to give away an entire album in such a fashion was unprecedented.
