Airbnb co-founder Brian Chesky founded the internet lodging connector at a moment in his life when he didn’t have money for rent.
In his San Francisco apartment with his roommate during a week when a convention had every hotel room in the city booked, Chesky pulled out three air beds and took in temporary roommates. Able to pay his rent, he would parlay the concept into a web site, www.airbnb.com, that has literally revolutionized the lodging industry – and is in the middle of a battle with hotels, who think the firm receives improper benefits in regards to taxes and regulation.
