Hedge Funds Are Still Long Growth And Short Value, And It Worked In June

Most hedge funds had a difficult start to the month of June, but things picked up by the middle of the month. Most funds saw gains mid-month that helped them recover some of their losses earlier in the month.

According to Morgan Stanley, most hedge fund strategies captured a fairly small portion of the market upside except for Asian hedge funds, which are the top performers year to date. Based on alpha, the spread between longs and shorts was paired off, although it was because both longs and shorts outperformed the equity indices.
