Li Lu keeps a relatively low profile despite being one of the world's best value investors.
Li Lu owns and manages Himalaya Capital Management, which is known for its disciplined and value-oriented approach to investing. Founded by Lu in 1997, Himalaya has produced an annual return for investors of more than 20% since its founding in 1998, putting the value investor in the same league as Buffett and Munger regarding returns (according to various sources).
Lu was inspired to get into banking by Buffett after hearing him speak at Columbia in 1993. Upon graduation, he worked in an investment bank until late 1997 and went on to found Himalaya.
