Lakewood Capital Rebuilds Short In “Tesla Like” Company

Lakewood Capital has been shorting the company now known as Axon Enterprise since at least the first quarter of 2015, but unfortunately, this hasn't been a good year to bet against the company. Axon was previously Taser International, and when Lakewood's Anthony Bozza originally discussed it a little over three years ago, it was a hot short.

Taser International short initiated in 2015

In the Q1 2015 letter for Lakewood Capital, Bozza explained why they started betting against the Taser manufacturer. At the time, Taser shares had doubled due to optimism surrounding the company's body camera business. He argued then that the weapons business was basically a monopoly, as Taser's stun guns accounted for almost 90% of total stun gun sales....
