Over the years, Klarman's hedge fund Baupost has held all sorts of assets, including real estate, equities, bonds and the debt of bankrupt investment bank Lehman Brothers.

The one common theme that's run through all of these investments is value. Klarman is always seeking to buy the most undervalued assets, which have the least risk, and most potential for outsized returns.
