Trusts and funds trading at a discount to net asset values is the theme of the September 18 issue of Grant's Interest Rate Observer.

Closed-end bond funds

Two closed-end bond funds, in particular, have attracted Grant's attention.

Firstly, the Deutsche High Opportunities Income Fund, a $212 million fund that's currently trading at an 8.1% discount to NAV. And the fund's management is asking shareholders to approve the dissolution and liquidation of the fund at the 2015 annual meeting, to be held on September. If shareholders vote to approve this measure, the winding up date of the fund would be no later than 30 months after the meeting date. Grant's assumes shareholders will vote in favor of liquidation.
