Many hedge funds engage in philanthropy by establishing their own foundations and using them to distribute their millions to nonprofit organizations. George Soros has actually established three foundations.

We can get an idea for his favorite investment funds by looking at those foundations' annual filings to see which funds he trusts his foundations' money to. We reviewed the 990-PF filings for the fiscal year that ended in December 2019, which were filed in June 2021, and found that Soros may have trusted only himself with his foundations' money.
