Investors are always being told they need to invest with a long term perspective. This statement is usually backed up with so-called long term data, which goes back ten years or maybe 15. But when you’re investing for life, a timeline of 10 or 15 years is basically short-term. Real long term data would go back 40 or even 60 years.
