At this year’s London Value Investor Conference, C.T. Fitzpatrick from Vulcan Value Partners discussed the firm’s approach to finding investments and why it likes to keep an eye on “400 to 500” companies worldwide.
Vulcan’s approach is based on value investing. Still, the firm is unwilling to get involved with any company unless it's seen a material improvement in the business from an operational standpoint. It also needs to be cheap.
The firm focuses mainly on cash flow, the speaker noted. It's looking for stable businesses as stability is one of the “ “most critical components of free cash flow.”
