Howard Marks, the Wall Street legend and the founder of Oaktree Capital participated in a virtual fireside chat and audience Q&A session at this year’s London Value Investor Conference. The discussion covered various topics, drawing on the investor’s six decades of experience on Wall Street.

A New Market Regime

Marks was at pains to point out he believes we’re moving into a different market regime. He thinks we’re moving into a period of higher interest rates, which could cause problems for many investors who have only seen falling interest rates since 1980. “They think that’s normal [falling interest rates], and I don’t think that’s normal,” the fund manager stated.
