When activist investors get involved in a stock, it's not uncommon for their share prices to soar, especially when it's someone like Nelson Peltz of Trian Partners.

At the 2024 Delivering Alpha Conference, Peltz told CNBC's Sara Eisen he's never seen as much optimism in the markets before.

After briefly discussing the election, he brought up the nation's balance sheet, which many investors are worried about, especially with what President-Elect Trump has promised on the campaign trail. He also shared some behind-the-scenes stories around some of the highest-profile proxy battles he's been involved in.
