Charles Heenan of Kennox Asset Management presented an idea in the global clothing manufacturing and consumer goods sector at the 2025 Sohn London Conference. Heenan is an Investment Director at Kennox and has co-managed the firm’s flagship portfolio since its launch in 2007. With more than 30 years of experience in global markets, he has been focusing on non-US, non-tech, and non-mega-cap opportunities. Before joining Kennox, Heenan was a key member of the Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) and Emerging Markets investment teams at Stewart Investors, where he developed his investment style favoring durable, industry-leading businesses trading at compelling valuations.

Heenan opened by noting the current concentration of excitement in the market: “You can’t say what is the most fashionable and exciting area of the market. Where are the cool kids?” This enthusiasm centers on the technology sector, which consists of companies with dominant positions, generating high cash flow. However, mirroring the dynamics of high fashion, investors often end up “paying very, very high prices for this” concentration.
