Carlson Capital’s Black Diamond Partners Fund Q3 letter - gains on RMBS and some

Carlson Capital’s Black Diamond Partners fund had a very good third quarter gaining 2.6%, an almost identical performance to the prior quarter. Year-to-date the fund is up 2.63% according to the fund’s third-quarter letter to investors, a copy of which has been reviewed by ValueWalk.

Credit long/short was the fund’s best performing strategy during the third quarter, adding nearly 9% to returns. The majority of these gains came from a well-placed trade on non-agency mortgage-securities (RMBS) and leveraged loans. The fund added to its RMBS positions significantly during the first quarter amid the credit market sell-off.
