The quality of a company's management is paramount to Warren Buffett. He believes that with any investment, it is essential to see how a manager performed relative to the company's status and competitive position in its industry after he or she first took a leadership role.

Other factors are important as well, such as a company's financial statements, and how they convey information to shareholders. Indeed, Buffett believes that he can tell how trustworthy management is just by looking at a company's financial statements and how its managers have decided to present the information.
