European Banks
Of all the places in the world to go hunting for value, the European banking sector is hardly the first place that comes to mind. Plagued by stagnant economic growth, poor productivity, rising levels of non-performing loans and rock bottom interest rates, Europe is an especially hostile area for banks to operate. Add in the threat of ever increasing regulation, political uncertainty, and rising reserve requirements and you get an environment only suitable for the market’s most intrepid investors.
However, analysts at SocGen believes there is some value to be found in European banks especially those that are creating a market for themselves and dominating certain areas of business.
