The Franklin Mutal Series was founded by Max Heine, who was one of the most successful value investors of the last century. Max Heine emigrated to New York during 1934 and immediately entered the securities business, founding Mutal Series in 1949. He became known for his "Getting a dollar for 50 cents" and would only consider an investment if it had the potential to return of 15% per annum.
