Third Point’s flagship strategy returned -5.3% in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 22.7% for the year as a whole, according to a copy of the firm’s letter that ValueWalk has been able to review. Since its inception (December 1996) Dan Loeb’s flagship fund has returned 15.1% annualized compared to 9.6% for the S&P 500 index, 8% for the MSCI World Index, and 7.2% for the Credit Suisse Hedge Fund Event Driven Index.
