S&P Global Summary: Global venture capital funding rounds decreased in both deal value and volume in the third quarter, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Key highlights from the analysis include:
- Deal value from July to September amounted to $61.32 billion, down 7.8% from $66.54 billion during the same period in 2023; The number of announced transactions during the quarter also fell to 3,341 from 4,025 in the year-ago period.
- In September, the deal value for venture funding rounds fell globally to a monthly total of $20.04 billion, representing a year-over-year decline of about 24.7%.
- Tech tops sector investments: The technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector remained the biggest recipient of venture capital in September, accounting for 32.8% of the global total.
- Largest funding rounds: The $1.9 billion funding round led by Partners Group Holding AG for EdgeCore Internet Real Estate LLC, a Denver-based datacenter operator was the largest in September.
