The company started in the mid 1900s as an academic science instrumentation company focused on analytical chemistry and products such as mpulse spectrometer but has since pivoted toward life sciences areas like mass spectrometry. According to Amati's website "Mikhail Zverev joined Amati in February 2022 as a fund manager to work on the WS Amati Global Innovation Fund. Between 2007 and 2021 Mikhail managed high conviction global funds and ran global equities teams at Standard Life Investments (now Abrdn) and Aviva Investors".
