Sohn conferences typically begin with presentations from some emerging, rising stars in the hedge-fund space, and the 2024 Sohn Hong Kong event was no different. This year's Next Wave speakers included Wendy Chen of Sigmoid Capital, Michael Zhang of Peach Creek Capital, Patrick Andersen of East Rock Capital, Daniel Rupp of Parkway Capital, and a few others.

Chen is bullish on Sanrio, an IP-focused Japanese firm with a $4.5 billion market capitalization that trades on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Among the intellectual property Sanrio owns is the globally recognized character Hello Kitty and many others, including Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin and Kuromi.
