While the number of short sellers has plunged in recent years due to the difficulty of the practice, investors' interest in shorting has not wavered. Some managers pointed out that shorting is far less competitive now, and one even thinks finding a good short is easier than uncovering a good long.
At the 2024 Robin Hood Investor Conference, Gavin Baker of Atreides Management, Anthony Bozza of Lakewood Capital, and Justin Lubell of Citadel joined Lee Ainslie III of Maverick Capital for a panel on long/ short equity perspective.
Bozza noted that equity performance has been incredible, and assets have moved onto other platforms.
