One of the insightful parts of the Elliott Investment Management Q1 2024 letter was aimed at deciphering the inflation, and monetary policy in the United States for the last couple of decades.

How the government measures inflation often baffles ordinary citizens. The reports show an inflation measured in a couple of percent, while the prices of food, services, and homes are up through the roof.

Also, what did the Fed accomplish with a prolonged zero-interest-rate policy? Something that looked so promising and good a decade ago, is now showing its ugly side.
