GS Prime: Hedge Funds Looking to Exit From China and US Tech; Europe Outperforms

Hedge Fund April Performance Analysis

In April, global fundamental long/short funds declined by 1.5%, bringing their year-to-date (YTD) performance to -1.8%. Despite the downturn, they outperformed the benchmark by approximately 250 basis points.

Alpha returns are 1.9% YTD, while beta detracted significantly, finishing the month with -4%. Long alpha has a 3% YTD gain, while short alpha has a negative 1% return.

On the other hand, systematic long/short funds declined by 1.1%...
