Ricky Sandler’s Eminence Fund Makes Up 45% Of His Foundation Holdings

When it comes to hedge fund managers, many of them are quite philanthropic, donating millions of dollars to worthy causes every year. Ricky Sandler of Eminence Capital is among them, donating through his own foundation.

He held steady with his investments in fiscal 2024, not adding any new funds or stocks versus 2023. There is no information about the Ricky Sandler Family Foundation online. In 2024, grantees included the University of Wisconsin Foundation, The Hewitt School, the Israel Tennis and Education Centers Foundation, and Duke University.

According to the 990-PF for 2024, which was filed in November 2025, the Ricky Sandler Family Foundation had $7.4 million in assets at the end of the year. Sandler is listed as the only board member on the foundation’s board, serving as president, secretary, treasurer and board member. Sandler personally contributed $2.3 million to his foundation in 2024. Total contributions received by the foundation reached $5.1 million, with an additional $2.9 million coming through a separate IRA account associated with the Sandler family.

Capital gains and losses

The foundation reported capital gains on two investments in 2024: RiverPark and Cibus Global. It purchased holdings in both of them during the year. The RiverPark position was sold in March 2024 for $186,885 against a cost basis of $165,601, producing a gain of $21,284. The Cibus Global position generated a gain of $70,227. Both positions show a fair market value of zero at year-end, indicating they were fully exited by December 31, 2024. Total capital gain net income for the year was $91,511.
