David Einhorn Delivering Alpha Conference

With the 2024 presidential election in the books, everyone wants to know what popular fund managers think about the result.

At the 2024 Delivering Alpha Conference, Greenlight Capital President David Einhorn sat down with CNBC's Leslie Picker to discuss everything from the election to value investing.

Einhorn on the election result

Picker kicked off the discussion with a question about the election, and Einhorn said the outcome surprised him. He had thought the result would be much closer and that the nation might still be fighting over who won.

However, Einhorn added that he thinks the fact that there was a decisive winner is good for the country and for stability. He said we can now "get on with things and begin to figure out where to go from here."

"So I think in a lot of ways, this was a very good outcome, just in terms of political stability, compared to… what I was worried about maybe a week or so ago," Einhorn said.

When asked what the result of the election means for his portfolio, he said they've increased their bets on inflation. Einhorn believes the policy mix that President-Elect Trump is proposing is inflationary, which means we could see prices go up a lot more in the coming years.
