Sometimes in cyclical industries when everyone is investing, it’s a terrible time to invest in that business. On the other hand, when no one is adding capacity and the world assumes demand will never go up, it can sometimes be a smart time to invest.

At the recent Capstone Student Investment Conference (CSIC), Arvind Sanger of Geosphere Capital Management explained why he believes now is the time to invest in coal.

"Sensible" energy

When he started his sensible energy transition fund at Geosphere in 2021, tech and biotech stocks were skyrocketing. Cryptocurrency was flying high, and Sanger was trying to launch a fund that was going to be swimming against the tide.
