Tom Gayner is the co-president and chief investment officer of the financial holding company Markel. He has an outstanding record as a portfolio manager, achieving a return of 11.3% per annum for the past 15 years. Steve Markel has held the position of vice chairman of Markel since March 1992 and has been a director of Markel since 1978. Also, he serves as a director of Fairfax Financial Holdings, Ltd and the Markel-Gayner Asset Management Corporation.
