Energy is one of the few sectors that's been outperforming this year, as evidenced by the tremendous returns of most companies in the space. Real estate is an entirely different story, but pricing trends suggest there could be opportunities there too.

At the recent Invest for Kids conference, Albert Rabil of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors presented two ideas. Since his firm's two biggest businesses are energy infrastructure and real estate, he focused on those two sectors. Rabil highlighted Cheniere Energy, which is already up 75% year to date, and Camden Property Trust, a real estate investment trust that has plummeted 37% year to date.
