Many hedge fund managers are known to donate lots of money to charities, and some do so through their own foundations. For example, Clint Carlson of Carlson Capital, which operates the Black Diamond group of hedge funds, donates through The Carlson Foundation.

In fact, Clint and Nancy Carlson donated $45,000 in cash to the foundation in 2023, according to the 990PF filing for 2023, which was filed in September 2024. The Carlson Foundation had over $15.5 million in assets at the end of 2023.
