Many of the world’s most successful people are also great philanthropists, including Bill Gates of Microsoft fame. His Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust is well known around the world for giving to numerous worthy causes, and a significant part of its income comes from investments.

According to the 990PF for 2023, which was filed in November 2024, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust had $75.5 billion in assets at the end of the year.

Melinda Gates donated $250 million in marketable securities during 2023, while Bill Gates contributed $93.3 million in cash, $73.4 million in investment management fees, and $10.3 million in securities. Warren Buffett donated over $3.5 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway...
