Alphyn Capital was down 2.7% for the second quarter, bringing its year-to-date return to 4.2%. The S&P 500 Total Return Index gained 4.3% for the second quarter and is up 15.3% year to date. Over the last year, Alphyn has gained 16.3%.

Changes underway

In his second-quarter letter to investors, Samer Hakoura said the portfolio's returns have not met his expectations. As such, he did a deep dive into the past decisions made at Alphyn Capital and found that risk and portfolio management were to blame for "a large part of the issue."
