Martin Lipton is a powerful and influential voice defending corporate boards and long-term planning. He has derided activist investors and assisted corporations in defending against short-term thinking. With this background in mind it should come as no surprise the partial namesake for the Wall Street law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz yesterday echoed voices from London calling for an end to quarterly financial reporting.
