AOL is about to say hello to Verizon. And in the process, it may be saying goodbye to The Huffington Post.

Under Verizon Umbrella, AOL May Bid Adieu to Huffington Post

On the heels of this morning’s announcement that Verizon Communications will acquire AOL for $4.4 billion, Re/code’s Kara Swisher reports that AOL has been in “advanced discussions” with various parties regarding spinning off its Huffington Post content unit.

The talks have been most serious with German media conglomerate Axel Springer, but another of private equity firms are said to have expressed interest as well.
